January 11, 2007 was the first day of ENC3310 (Expository Writing) with Professor Conner in Coquina Hall, room 231. After going through the basics of the course, we were instructed to interview a fellow classmate. I had the opportunity to chat with Alexis Dokka. Alexis is a junior here at the University of South Florida, majoring in English writing. This semester she is taking 12 credit hours at USF. After discussing our majors and other background information, we discussed the Not for Profit 'zine. The "out of the box" nature of these 'zines appealed to Alexis. Although Alexis attends the USF-St. Pete campus, she lives in Largo. Alexis gave me insight towards the geography of the Largo/Clearwater area and its relation to the city of Tampa and St. Pete. I am from Sarasota and not too familiar with the area. In addition to being a student at the University of South Florida, she also works with a chiropractor. Alexis enjoys coffee shops and the Atlanta Braves. Finally, Alexis has two younger siblings. I enjoyed my chat with Alexis because I do not know other English writing majors. Being in the business program, 99% of my classes are with other business majors. Overall, I feel that this course will be a fun, but also valuable class.
