23:02 austonian13: hey whats up Emery?
23:03 wutwutalma: Yo, yo
23:03 austonian13: this is austin from Expos!
23:03 wutwutalma: Yep, of course. What's going on, dude?
23:04 austonian13: not much, just getting back from the gym, had to fit it in.
23:04 austonian13: So I was checking out the course calender and it says something about chatin with somebody about starbucks?
23:05 wutwutalma: Yeah. Actually, you can chat on the wiki.
23:06 austonian13: how so?
23:06 wutwutalma: go to enc3310zine.pbwiki.com/Starbucks
23:06 wutwutalma: And check it out. Read and react to what's been written.
23:06 wutwutalma: Or, if you wanna chat, I'd be glad to chat about it.
23:06 wutwutalma: But go check that piece out first.
23:06 wutwutalma: And holla back.
23:07 austonian13: aight I was just checkin in becasue trey said something about he was serious about us using IM and I was a little confused about what he wanted us to so with it
23:07 austonian13: do*
23:08 wutwutalma: Yeah, check out that link I gave you and get back to me on IM.
23:08 austonian13: aight, word!
23:08 wutwutalma: Peace
23:41 austonian13: aight so i read the material and gave my 2 cents on what I think
23:42 wutwutalma: Awesome, dude.
23:43 wutwutalma: I think the main thing Trey wants is for you to be familiar with the chat software, because it's a great way to communicate once we start group work.
23:43 wutwutalma: But, what do you think about the Starbucks stuff?
23:43 austonian13: yeah defanintly, i use this stuff all the time.
23:44 austonian13: I dunno man, i feel people are lazy and thats why they spend 5 bucks on cup of joe when they could drop 5 bucks buying a can of fulgers
23:44 austonian13: they dont want to take the time and effort to make a pot of coffee that is how bad it is
23:45 wutwutalma: Yeah, that's certainly part of it.
23:45 wutwutalma: What else do you think pullspeople to Starbucks.
23:45 austonian13: people are so worried about livinbg the "american dream" and making money that they would rather have someone else make there coffee for them and get on the road to make there money
23:46 austonian13: Its a fad
23:46 wutwutalma: That's a good argument.
23:46 wutwutalma: If it's a fad, it's certainly been pretty lucrative.
23:46 wutwutalma: Starbucks, the little coffee shop from Seattle, is a giant.
23:47 austonian13: people (especially the young crowd) see it as a cool place to hang out, old people see it as a cool place to drink coffee and listen to music, middle aged people are so worreid about making money that they just want to get on there way,
23:47 wutwutalma: Yes, yes and yes.
23:47 austonian13: that is why is has beena fad forever, because it appeals to diverse groups
23:48 wutwutalma: Why is it so cool to hang out at Starbucks?
23:48 austonian13: i dunno
23:48 austonian13: i cant stand it
23:48 wutwutalma: I'm pretty much with you, though I have been to Starbucks four times in my life -- all in the last year.
23:48 austonian13: yep
23:49 wutwutalma: Each time, I've gotten tea, which was WAY overpriced.
23:49 wutwutalma: Whoa.
23:49 wutwutalma: I think I got a scone once, too, at an airport Starbucks.
23:49 austonian13: i go because either my family friends or girlfriend likes it
23:50 austonian13: tell me about i got a frappacino there one time and when they said it was like 6 bucks for a coffee i was like" would u like my first born son while your at it"
23:51 austonian13: seriosuly the stupidity of people boggles my mind
23:52 austonian13: why not brew at your own place, or i know of many awsome coffee joints that are very well priced and have the exact same atmsphere as Starbucks
23:52 austonian13: like Saint Pete's finest for exaple on 9th street and 12 ave i believe
23:54 wutwutalma: That's true.
23:54 wutwutalma: We argued about that last week -- the damange major corporations do to hometown joints.
23:54 austonian13: its crazy
23:55 wutwutalma: And sad.
23:56 wutwutalma: So, hey, if you want, take this chat session and take a look at it. If anything emerged that you might want to add to the Starbucks page on the wiki, remix it and throw it up there.
23:56 wutwutalma: Or you could just remix it a little bit and throw a link to it on the wiki.
23:56 austonian13: what do you mean by remix it?
23:56 wutwutalma: Reword and rework it to make it more of a -- I hate to say this -- formal piece of writing.
23:57 wutwutalma: You know, because chat can be informal.
23:57 wutwutalma: Misspellings and capitalization and punctuation kind of go out the window, you know?
23:57 wutwutalma: But sometimes the emotion of a chat session is very strong.
23:58 austonian13: yeah
23:58 austonian13: i got ya
23:58 wutwutalma: So you kind of go back and tighten it up grammatically, borrowing ideas from the chat session to build a strong piece of expository writing.
23:58 wutwutalma: Cool?
23:58 austonian13: word
23:58 austonian13: how do you save a chat?
23:58 wutwutalma: Awesome. Thanks for getting in touch. I'll see you Thursday?
23:58 austonian13: sorry nevber had to save a chat before?
23:58 austonian13: never*
