How do we help others?
First we must gather information to make assumptions about their values. I know someone that really wants to get a job - I can help them by giving their name, number, and a good recommedation to my own employer. They value getting a job - I give them value. This covers effectively all humanity: we have values. We can help people by giving, protecting, and enhancing the things they value.
Another way to say this is meeting needs.
Here's two questions that should guide us in "the pursuit of helping others":
Who needs the most help?
Who can I help the most?
If everyone could find an area to focus which answered both of these qestions there would be a lot of productive helping going on.
or maybe its more about shifting my mindset away from how can I fulfill my wants to how can I fulfill the needs/wants of others.
So, whether you find some particular need to invest yourself in or you just invest yourself in meeting needs, may these pages guide and inspire you.
One of the Great Social Needs of Our Time
For those concerned with helping others today there is an urgent calling. The powerhouse of corporate America is coming like the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man.
Maybe he doesn't mean any harm, but the fact remains that he leaves destruction in his wake. We now, along with Dr. Peter Venkman, Dr. Raymond Stantz, Dr. Egon Spengler, and Winston Zeddmore, must take up arms to control this beast.
