You would think that there wouldn't be much running through your head, falling at terminal velocity. Alarmingly, this is not the case. On TV, they make it look so peaceful. Floating toward the earth, weightlessly, it looks so serene.

I was horrified. I literally thought that I was going to die, and that the last person that I had contact with, was the diving instructor strapped to my back. For that entire minute of freefall, I contemplated everything that I had not accomplished in my 20 years. All of the people that I hadn't said "I'm sorry" to, and all of the people who I loved. Finally, the chute opened, and the straps slowed our plummet to Earth. As I was hanging there attached to this man, John, I think, I thought about how thrilling it was to be so far above everything. Yes, my heart was still beating in my teeth, and yes I had just about had a mental heart attack, but MAN! what a rush! I thought about that morning, and how my day started.

The alarm clock buzzed at a dreery 7:15 am. Rolling over, I grabbed the digital clock and chucked it towards the wall. I was not looking forward to the day ahead.

Like an idiot, I had agreed 3 weeks before to let my girlfriend con me into the most dangerous experience of his life. So today, I was going skydiving.

Man, if I didn't love that girl. You would not BELIEVE the things that I do for her. SKYDIVING?! I never in a million years would go skydiving. For her, though, today.. I am.

Luckily, some buddies of ours are joining us on this "thrilling" experience. I drove, and by 9 oclock, we were all in the car, headed to the airport. Not much of an airport, the rundown hangar looked like it was about to fall over. Honestly, I'm not sure there was pavement on the runway. I'm also pretty sure that the pack of gum with wings, was NOT an airplane.

When we walked up to the building, two gentlemen greeted us. They proceeded to have us fill out the "necessary paperwork" (basically a sheet of paper binding us to the fact that, if we die, it's not their fault.) and took about a 5 minute "crash course."

After a quick round of "Rock, Paper, Scissors" it was determined that TJ, Casey and I would go first. I strapped on my totally rad flightsuit, and we took off.

Now here I am. I've been floating here for probably about 5 minutes or so. I'm debating starting a conversation with the man attached to my spinal cord. Maybe I'll just stay quiet, and linger in my thoughts.
