Our use for photography is actually through the vehicle of pictures. Pictures are created by capturing light on a light sensitive medium, such as film. Light patterns reflected or emitted from objects are recorded onto a sensitive medium or storage chip through a timed exposure. The most common process is done through mechanical, chemical or digital devices known as cameras. A camera is an image forming device used to capture or record. Photographers use the camera to control the exposure. The exposure is the light of the image that is being recorded, by controlling the timing of the exposure, the speed of the shutter and the amount of light allowed; a single picture can be made to look many different ways.
