My FreeSound

Page history last edited by PBworks 18 years, 1 month ago

I picked my sounds based on this morning's characteristics. Collectively, they make a very unique sound.

When I was in high school, I had a history teacher that would play classical music before each test to excite our brain waves. I did not appreciate classical music until this point. Before, I thought it was boring music for old people. However, the music did have a way of stimulating my brain before taking tests. Since then, I have been known to listen to some classical music before some of my tests in college. I also listen to it when I am doing assignments for school. Thus, I looked up classical music and found a piano sound that somewhat related to the classical music theme:

Sound #1 piano

I picked this song because my dogs were in my room while I was completing this assignment. I have three dogs, Buddy, Lola, and Bentley. Buddy is a German shorthaired pointer, and Lola and Bentley are Boxers (as seen on my main page at the bottom). Anyways, as I was doing this assignment, they began to bark like always so I decided to look up a barking sound. I find their barking to be annoying at times, however I appreciate it because they are usually signaling to me that someone is at the door, or just barking as a form of protection. It turns out that they were running around outside in the rain on the patio. I decided to add music to a dog bark and see what it sounds like:

Sound #2 dog bark

Finally, the weather was poor while I completing this assignment. When I woke up, it was nearly dark outside due to the gray sky. It is cold, windy, and raining, but there is no thunder. Thus, I searched for the sound of thunder because it seems that it is the only thing lacking from today's weather:

Sound #3 thunder

...I did hear thunder on the way to class after writing this as I traveled to St. Pete...

I enjoyed the freesound project. It was significantly different from more traditional projects I have done in the past. My favorite part was the spontaneity of the assignment. It was a free-flowing project, which I like because it encourages creativity. After I thought about one sound, I was on to another and hearing how they sounded together. After they were meshed together, the collaborative sound paints a vivid picture in my head of that particular day as I was doing the assignment.
